I'm curious about your Tux avatar. Is it a generic one inserted by the bulletin board? Or did you pick it out yourself? It looks to be the Slackware Tux. Are you using Slackware?

I think all the MeLUG North members must have jobs as they don't seem to meet often or post here much!

I just searched for the image, usualy go to the Slackware website to get it from the fan art section ( I think they call it propaganda, [I woke up earlier this morning than I should have... heh]).

I'm actually from Bangor, and I have a friend who might be interested as well, hoping toliven up the community! :D; ▶ Reply to This

Permalink Reply by Seth W. Klein on October 21, 2009 at 3:49pm: We don't currently meet. Last time we did, I was the only one who provided any content more than once a year, and there were plenty of meetings when Christian and I were the only ones who showed up.

Some of our most successful meetings have been when we had another member who would show off whatever he'd been doing in the last month at every meeting, not a full presentation (which I was still bringing) but just a quick demo/discussion, somewhat Bar Camp like. I'd thought of starting meetings back up this fall, with that as an explicit focus, but personal and economic issues have pushed it too far down the priority list.

If anyone else wants to take responsibility for running a meeting, we have enough contacts that space shouldn't be a major problem. Just let me know.
