MELUG North

Maine Linux User Group, Northern Chapter

On the subject of summer meetings, I sent out a feeler last week to the mailing list and received no replies. Given that, I am deciding to wave off the July meeting.

I'll entertain comments on whether we should have an August meeting or not.

I'll show up if it doesn't conflict. (Wednesday evenings are still out.) As usual, the Mitches would probably be willing to host although they don't have a projector.

I am still a Linux novice and just signed up for the mailing list and joined this Ning forum. I am very interested in attending a MELUG-North meeting. Will there be an announcement posted here or a mailing sent when/if the meetings resume?

Yes, there will be an announcement of any official meeting on the list and here.

I don't know what Christian has for plans, but I do know that there's much more likely to be a meeting if your interest extends to helping. I don't currently have a computer to bring to drive the projector, and I had been doing 90% of the presentations. This was half working until last year when I picked up a conflict with the Wednesday evening meeting time.

Marc:

I was looking for some interest in the meetings.

I was going to have a class on Weednesday evenings; I believe at this point it is going to be cancelled. There are a few people who would attend meetings if they could. Last I knew, one cannot make Wednesday evenings, and the other can only made one out of two Wednesday evenings.

So, as fall approaches, I would interested to know when people interested in meetings could attend. My schedule is tight, but I have managed to make most all Wednesday evenings (except when in classes, seminars, and special events).

---------------

Now that we are coming into the "fall" schedule, I'd like to know when interested people could attend. For the last few years, we have met at the Bangor Public Library, which has later hours in the fall (as well as Saturday, IIRC).

When can interested people make meetings? If we know that, we can confirm a location and go from there.

I am quite open to whichever day works for everyone else.

I have one or two old beige boxes I could bring if that helps. I am using one right now to do this. It is dual booting '98 and Ubuntu Dapper Drake. I also have a notebook which will be dual booting Vista and Ubuntu Feisty Fawn (if all goes according to plan) in about 37 minutes.

I look forward to helping or contributing in any way I can.

I have free evenings other than Wednesday and Sunday where evening currently starts no earlier than 5:30 P.M.

For those visiting, you may now see where the problems begin. ;^>

I am tied up all Tuesday evenings, Thursday early evenings, much of Saturday and all of Sunday. Further, I have other meetings on some Wednesdays (typically) and occasionally Mondays.

The Bangor Public Library has hosted us during the "academic year" and used to close fairly late during that season (2100?). They are now open

"Monday - Thursday, 9 AM to 8 PM
Friday & Saturday, 9 AM to 5 PM
Closed Sunday"

and the next two "second Mondays" are holidays observed by BPL.

Ironically enough, I am trying to get something else scheduled for the season as well.

I am interested in the thoughts of the others here on the forum about what can work for all those interested.

Any time there's a meeting I can attend, and I'd really like to see what this is all about. I'm an ubuntu veteran and will bring my laptop preloaded with it.

I have created a forum for the fall/winter/spring meetings (logistical issues - time, location, etc.).
