Meeting model: date/time, frequency, location, topics, activities

I'd like to reinvigorate the conversation about our meetings.

* When and how frequently should we hold (F2F) meetings?
* Where should meetings be held?
* What should we do when we meet?
* Are there things people would like to present or demonstrate at meetings?
* What would people like to see presented and/or demonstrated at meetings?

For example: last month, I received email from a few people indicating that they would come (some did, others did not). I used to hear from people in the university community and elsewhere that they would like to attend, but could not due to the travel time, the time of the meetings, and other factors.

I am very interested in what other members of the group have to suggest regarding the meeting model - past, present, and future.

For finding meeting times, Doodle, which really ought to be some flash drawing thing if it's going to have a name like that, just hit my news stream. It's a free and (currently) ad free site for doing polls to select meeting times that would work for as many as possible.

Doodle looks like an interesting tool (at least from the front page).

At this time, I'd like to take the pulse of the neighborhood as respects summer meetings.

Is there any interest in summer meetings? Before I start looking around for meeting places (etc.), I'd like to know if anyone would attend!
